Aphthic Stomatitis

Aphthous stomatitis is characterized by multiple small, red, round or oval ulcers with well-defined margins on the oral mucosa in the absence of any other systemic disease. The ulcers typically appear during childhood or adolescence and are often inherited. Diagnosis is based solely on the patient’s medical history and clinical examination, as there is no specific laboratory test. Treatment includes corticosteroids and anti-inflammatory drugs.
