Keloid – an abnormal formation of scar tissue. Keloids are more common in people with darker skin types and in individuals prone to excessive scarring. The diagnosis is usually confirmed clinically.

Treatment outcomes vary considerably. First-line treatment options include silicone ointments, intralesional corticosteroids, and pressure therapy. If conservative treatment is ineffective, surgical removal may be performed.
