Sinus Pain
Pain is an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience associated with actual or potential tissue damage. Specialized nociceptors are activated by tissue injury, generating nerve impulses that are transmitted through sensory pathways to the brain, where they are perceived as pain. Pain is often accompanied by negative emotional responses such as fear, anxiety, or depression. Persistent pain may alter a person’s behavior, leading them to seek medical care, adopt protective postures, and exhibit changes in facial expression. Pain may result from mechanical, thermal, chemical, or inflammatory tissue injury. Pain lasting up to 1 month is considered acute. Chronic pain is defined as pain lasting longer than 6 months. Pain lasting more than 1 month but less than 6 months is classified as subacute.
