Congenital Hip Dysplasia

Description of the disease

Congenital hip dysplasia is an abnormal anatomical relationship between the femoral head and the acetabulum that disrupts normal hip development and may lead to early-onset arthritis and disability. If the hip stabilizes spontaneously within weeks or months, the condition is referred to as transient congenital hip dysplasia. Diagnosis is based on specific clinical tests performed in newborns up to 6 months of age, while ultrasonography is used to confirm the diagnosis. In most cases, treatment is conservative and involves the use of special hip abduction braces.
