Transient synovitis of the hip
Transient synovitis of the hip is a self-limiting inflammatory condition of the hip joint that commonly affects children between 2 and 12 years of age. The condition is more common in boys. Patients typically present with hip pain and a limp. Transient synovitis of the hip often develops following an upper respiratory tract infection. Treatment is supportive and includes limiting physical activity and the use of anti-inflammatory medications.
