Fecal Urgency
Fecal urgency is the sudden and compelling need to defecate that is difficult to postpone or control. It is often associated with gastrointestinal disorders such as diarrhea, inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome, gastrointestinal infections, or rectal inflammation.
Patients may experience abdominal cramping, discomfort, and fear of fecal incontinence due to the inability to delay bowel movements. Persistent fecal urgency can significantly impair quality of life and may require medical evaluation to identify the underlying cause.
